Progressive Horizons Incorporated is a 501-(C)-(3) non-profit organization committed to providing individualized quality residential and support services in the least restrictive environment. Services are provided to persons with specialized needs in local community settings. Progressive Horizons advocates, promotes, honors and supports an individual's choices, desires, cultural proclivities, and needs in order to maximize a full and productive life.

Twenty Years of Service: Progressive Horizons Inc. has been in existence since 1986. Headquartered in Baltimore, MD, the agency was established in 1986 by Jerry O. Pittman for the purpose of enhancing the quality of life for persons with developmental disabilities.

Programs: Since its inception, Progressive Horizons has owned or rented, and operated group homes for developmentally/physically disabled adults and foster care youth. Currently there are 26 group homes located throughout Baltimore County and Baltimore City. It was in 1991 that Progressive Horizons first expanded to a variety of services including a therapeutic treatment program for foster care youth and foster families. The agency provides the most advanced residential and treatment services to its various consumer groups.

International Initiatives: Almost half of Progressive Horizons' residential and administrative staff is comprised of individuals who hail from various African countries. This factor facilitates the 'export' of the agency's knowledge and expertise back to some staff’s countries of origin - specifically Ghana, where construction of a group home and an inclusive school facility is planned for the future. Currently, Progressive Horizons' International Division has collected and facilitated three shipments of much needed medical equipment and supplies to three hospitals in the Akatsi District of Ghana. Items were donated by area hospitals in Maryland.
